Stop searching for that Golden Idea

Stop searching for that one idea that’ll make you successful. There are different ways to get to your goal; there isn’t just one way. Think about Billionaires; they don’t have one source of income, there are multiple streams of income. Billionaires continue to grow and evolve, so should we. Again, stop putting all of your hopes on one project.

Even if it’s only one idea that is successful, it is ok. Having one victory does not mean stop working at your craft. If your victory brings in income, that means less stress and more time to work on what you love.

It is unnecessary to wear yourself out about one idea. Let thoughts come to you. It is in those quiet moments when ideas will come to you. They are so subtle that you won’t even notice it. Stop and have a moment of clarity. Relax. The thoughts that you want to focus on are re-occurring, they are strong passions, it’ll occur when you are close to your spiritual source.

Your “Genius” will help you map out a plan for your next project, all you need to do is free yourself. We tend to treat ourselves like machines but we aren’t machines, and our ideas aren’t ours to claim (especially the good ones). Acknowledge your source.

Once we stop tiring ourselves by trying to find the next big thing, then we will be able to progress on our creative paths. Let the genius craft you, don’t craft the Genius.

6 Life Changing lessons I have learned from the Armor of God

Bible study is very redundant and uninteresting. The Bible study leaders don’t go in depth. This Bible study, however, was different. Priscilla Shirer takes her time and explains the idea of the Armor of God from Ephesians and why it is important. Not only did I learn about the Armor of God, but I also learned about myself. I have learned that I built a cage for myself. I was the reason I wasn’t doing my best. Through this Bible study, I am able to destroy this cage and do better for myself and I want you to do the same. I want to share some lessons from Bible study that liberated me, and hopefully, you will feel the same way. Here are some questions that I had before that Bible study has answered. Maybe you have had the same questions too…

Have you ever felt like you’ll never be Righteous?

One of the most liberating lessons that I have learned from Bible study is that I am Righteous. It feels great to know that I don’t have to be perfect to be righteous. Knowing that I am righteous gives me the courage to follow God’s law. The law isn’t as overwhelming. I can focus more on the relational aspect of God’s law and do his will.

What is Sanctification?

Sanctification is a process.
Through our love for God, we choose to do what is right. Through God’s love for us, we learn what is right. Sanctification is stepping into righteousness with confidence. This process is a beautiful thing. We become closer to God and learn more about ourselves. It’s a win-win situation.

Don’t I need to be perfect to be Righteous?

You won’t get righteousness from perfection.
Perfectionism is a distraction. When we are busy trying to make ourselves perfect that we forget about God’s role in our lives. We will never reach perfection on our own and plus our vision of perfection is skewed. The point is we don’t have to be perfect. We do the will of God because we love God and God loves us.

Why must I know The Truth?

It is important to know the Truth (God’s Truth)
God’s truth reduces anxiety and also gives you confidence. Knowing who you are or why you do the things that you do is very helpful. Through God’s insight, we can be our best. God’s truth is also helpful for making decisions. It protects you from events that could’ve happened or delayed processes.

What is Faith?

Faith is “assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of thing hoped for, the conviction of things not seen“. Faith is action. Faith also means to wait. This also means don’t follow your own plan. With faith, you know God will give you an answer.

Will I ever have peace now? Do I have to wait until I go to Heaven

Peace is internal.
Peace is already inside of you, just tap into it. It is a guide. It is clarity, confidence, and stability. It doesn’t just come when you go to heaven it comes as a result of gratitude.
Reflecting or referencing what God has done for you, others or God brings peace.

I am not finished with Bible study yet but I have learned a lot. These lessons gave me a new outlook on life and Christianity. Now, I know that the only thing holding me from being the best in me. Everything that I need is already within me. I just need to tap into it.

Being A Vessel For God

I often go back to Elizabeth Gilbert’s first Ted talk where she urges the audience to change their perspective on the connotation of genius. I remember my Pastor reflected on the Ted talk and said that Elizabeth Gilbert was talking about God. In my opinion, she was talking about more than just God. Elizabeth Gilbert talked about our relationship with God. Specifically, being a vessel for God.

I use to look at being a vessel for God in a negative light. I didn’t like the terms USE and VESSEL because it sounded empty and void of life. Once I began my Bible Study, The Armor of God, and my perspective changed.

After doing my Bible study, I thought about my purpose in the world. It was a pretty random thought process (which I have pretty often). I thought about how sad it would be to be placed on this earth to do one thing… or even worse, one small thing was your purpose. I also thought about how we do not even know our purpose until it is time for us to fulfill it…then it is over. I went back to Elizabeth’s Ted Talk. There was one part in particular where she talks about the dancer dancing the one dance and possibly not dancing the same dance again. The phrase that kept popping up in my head was “IT isn’t about you”. That is when I understood it.

It really isn’t about me. The focus not being on me should be liberating. I only have to be a vessel for God. God isn’t like a business that expects me to do the same thing over and over. God IS crafting me, day by day, for his purpose. I don’t have to carry the weight of the responsibility. I don’t need to know my purpose until God is ready to reveal it to me.

I use to be jealous of my best friend because I would compare myself to her. We both have always wanted to know what God wants us to do in life. She is with a ministry and has it defined. I, on the other hand, am still dabbling in my loves, the only thing I am trying to ground myself in is Christianity. But now that I know What I know now I can focus on what is more important.

I use to be so wrapped up in trying to figure out what my purpose was that I was suicidal. I was at University and I didn’t know what to do. On top of that, I see others who have these well-thought-out plans and doing things with their lives. Now that I know I don’t have to know what my purpose is and I do not need to compare myself to others…I can put more focus on me and My relationship with God.

Today, if you struggled with something similar I encourage you to stop wondering what your purpose is. Again, it is not for you to know at this time. Instead, focus on building up a relationship with God. I highly recommend reading the Armor of God. It helped me put some things in perspective and I am sure you will enjoy it. Scaling Back

The Chronicles of Phoenix was my first official script and I didn’t know what I was doing. I “dove in head first” trying to learn as I went along. Honestly, the story was not flowing. I wasn’t feeling it.

I recently switched from writing in a structured format to a freewriting format. I feel like that works for me. Back to stage one.

On another hand, the other script that I was working on, I enjoy working on it. There is another story that I am freewriting and I enjoy working on that as well.

With The Chronicles of Phoenix, I tried to stretch the story and make it 100 pages. It wasn’t a 100-page script. This time I will try and not stretch it out and flow with the story.

The thing about working on projects is that it’s necessary to start on a small scale and take things in pieces.

Pick One Thing and Stick To IT

Someone once said that it is wise to become a Master at one thing. That is hard for me because I love all things art and I dabble in all things art. It’s hard to settle down. Even in Film related areas, I can’t just pick one thing. Before I decide to settle down I would like to try one more thing: making my own film. I have been trying to buy a camera for the last couple of years. I even choose my computer because I wanted to film. Life, bills and more situations seem to get in the way of my goal.

When I finally get my camera, I would like to do some short film projects along with experimental videos. I want to play around with the aesthetics of filming and make something beautiful. It is another way for me to explore the ideas inside my head.

For me, my perfect medium is a way to effectively explore my ideas. I want the product to be something I am in Love with.

The one thing about my love of art is that it is so expensive. I have always been an extremely creative person but coming from a one-parent household and living pretty nomadically makes things hard. Hopefully one day I can find my medium and stick to it.

Let me know your thoughts and what medium works for you!

Christianity and Self Awareness

The reason I am writing this post is to share what I have learned as a Christian  and shine light on Christianity as a whole.  While reading the Armor of God and watching Youtube videos on different religions I was inspired to share my experience with Christianity.

Being a Christian inspires internal honesty
Internal honesty comes from looking at the root of past events that affect us daily and sin. God inspires us to question ourselves on why we act the way that we do. Are we still living in the past? Why do we do something that we know has a negative outcome? In order to change, we must have those moments to look internally. Through God’s grace, we have the opportunity to learn. Through repentance, we grow. God challenges us to take off the rose-tinted glasses and deal with the truth.

Christianity promotes peace
God is a God of Love and Peace. We, as Christians, are striving towards peace. Peace is the result of Christians following the guidelines and understanding why the guidelines are in place. God’s wisdom and knowing the truth brings peace.

God doesn’t want you to have guilt or shame, that’s why Jesus died on the cross
It is hard to forgive ourselves or to ask for forgiveness after we’ve done something wrong. Jesus died on the cross so that we won’t be separated from God because of guilt. This does not mean that sinning is okay. This is an opportunity to learn and grow from our mistakes. The biggest part is forgiving ourselves for what we have done. The Bible encourages us to learn and move on, not to dwell on the past.

No More Guilt or Shame

Christianity promotes healing and moving forward in life
Hurt and pain can turn into bitterness. In my Christian experience, I had to deal with the feelings and thoughts that I carried for many years. Those thoughts and feelings dictated my life. I wasn’t in control. I had to be honest with myself and God about why I was hurting. Hurt can lead to sin and sin can lead to hurting others. Talking to God was my therapy, it allowed me to let go of the baggage. Subconsciously living in the past is self-sabotage, it kept me from being the best that I can be.

Living Authentically.
There isn’t a need to be perfect. Accept yourself and improve on what you can.

It isn’t about us (The Bigger Picture)
It is nice to know that there something beyond me, beyond this life…something greater.

Nothing is new under the sun
In the Western World, we think linear meanwhile, in other places they adopt a parallel way of thinking. Instead of using linear thinking, look at history to help make a better decision for the future. Someone else might have gone through a similar situation and we can use that experience to help formulate the next step.

Ecclesiastes 1:6

Everything is Temporary
When we see the world and life as temporary our problems become much smaller.

https://www.biblegateway.com/verse/en/2%20Corinthians%204%3A18

Everything is meaningless
I’ll use money as an example. We are bound to a piece of paper….not even that…a number that has no real value. Money, itself, isn’t worth anything. It is a tool.  We are tied to this tool that we revolve our lives around it. We spend money to go to college to make more money. We get up for money, we live for money and we continue to do a lot of our daily activities because of a number that does not have actual value. Money is just a tool and nothing more.
Ecclesiastes Chapter 1 NIV

There is much more to Christianity than being a model citizen or doing the right thing. It is about the mindset and the internal changes you have to do to get the right thing.

I hope that this post helped you gain some insight on Christianity. Let me know your thoughts below!
